3 costume ideas

When i was planning for my music video we was thinking of a number of costumes. For example we had 3 different costume ideas and we was going to pick what we believed was the best costume to use and would be appropriate.

Idea 1 - Baggy black jeans, Hoodie, New era Hat

Idea 2 - Skinny Jeans, t shirt Sunglasses, Converse trainers

Idea 3 - Leather Jacket, Casual Trousers, New era Hat, Sunglasses

Poster idea

On photoshop we edited a picture which we thought would be suitable for our poster idea. We played around with the photo and decided this would be a good idea for a concert advertising poster.

In this lesson we was asked to perform a song of our choice in small groups. Nathan Oliver and Paul performed a song which is similar to our genre we have chosen. When performing paul and nathan were lip syncing and performing, such as dancing which also relates to our genre. Once we recorded this we uploaded our footage and was shown how to edit this on final cut. We was asked to play around with final cut on the Macs to see what effects we liked the most and select a background for this. Here is an example of what my group achieved in this lesson and here is a short clip from our final piece.

Our Genre

As a group we have decided that the genre we are going to do as our video is UK Grime. We have looked at many different videos that relate to this and many famous artists that this genre relates to. For example we looked at videos from tinie tempah including pass out, frisky and miami to ibiza. In miami to ibiza, tinie tempah collaborates with the swedish house mafia which are a drum n bass band. Here are some images from this video. In our video we will use similar images to this as it will suit our genre of UK Grime.

In these photo's tinie tempah (the artist) is a stereotype of a typical grime artist. This is due tohis clothes. For example he is wearing sunglasses and black leather jackets. This is what we will be using in our music videos.

Photoshop images

On photoshop we edited photos and put in different effects to make the picture suit our genre. We chose this effect because we thought it would look good on our CD.

Images of our band,

In class we was asked to go off around the school and take photos of different images and our band in various destinations. We chose these photos because they are typical of an english boyband. This is because of the poses we are doing and the places we are taking the photos. For example the first picture looks like it is set in an urban environment due to the brick walls and the steps that we a a band are sitting on.The second picture is the four of us (the whole band) sitting on a wall with railings which is also an urban environment which relates to the UK grime genre. The last photo is of the band with a plain background which we are thinking of editing on photoshop for our CD cover.

• The band are being shown performing and playing their instruments
• They are wearing smart casual clothing, and sunglasses
• Lots of close ups of the artists face, which has been edited as there eyes are very bright compared to the rest of their face

• The editors use non-linea equipment

Planning - Roles

We come up with roles for our group working out who the performer will be, the editor and also who will be filming the video.

Main Performer: In our music video Casey will be the main performer acting and lipsyncing the song of Example - Millionaire.

Second Performer: Nathan will be the second performer singing the chorus of the song.

Editor: Nathan Powell will be the main editor of the music video but we will all contribute with the ideas of what we think willl work.

Filmer: The person filming the video will be Tyler.

Planning - initial ideas

Our first initial thoughts was to do a well known American artist called Eminem. The reason why we was going to do him was because we all like his music and we all look up to him. However, we was then told that we could not do a song that already has a music video so we had to re think. We then also got told that it would be better to do a UK artist so we was thinking of songs that we could do and those that do not have music videos already made. We thought of a good UK artist who is known and we thought of a man called Example. Then we looked at his album list and went on youtube to see what songs did not have music videos and what songs we liked most. The song that we liked most was Millionaire which is a bit of the UK Grime genre. After finding the song that we liked we looked at other UK Grime artists like Example to see what kind of stuff they have in their music videos and then we looked at the conventions of a Grime music video.We then thought of good locations where we could film after looking at the lyrics and we came up of a idea of going to Brighton for our main location and also filiming in night clubs and inside someone's house as these locations would match the lyrics. The costume that our performer will be wearing will be hip hoppy with bright colours that clash eachother well so like the red and yellows with the blue or dark grey trousers with the leather jacket.
